A Provincial Park For A Back Fence.
Evergreen runs along the southern edge of Fish Creek Provincial Park, one of the largest urban parks in North America. For the streets closest to it, that is not a nearby amenity. It is where you walk the dog before work. Multiple access points sit along the community’s northern boundary.
It was established at the tail end of the 1990s and largely finished building by the 2010s, which means mature trees, settled streets, and none of the construction traffic you get in a newer community.
The Housing Mix
One of the widest ladders in the southwest: apartment condos and townhomes at one end, front garage and laned family homes through the middle, and larger lot estate properties at the top.
The Schools
Evergreen School and Dr. Freda Miller School cover kindergarten to Grade 5, Marshall Springs School covers Grades 6 to 9, all inside the community. Our Lady of the Rosary is the Catholic option and Centennial High is close by.
Everyday Life
Shawnessy for the big shop, Evergreen Village for the quick one, and the Fish Creek Lacombe CTrain a short drive north. A new southwest recreation facility is planned for 2027 to 2028.
The Commute
Roughly 25 minutes downtown via Stoney or Macleod on a clear run. This is the deep southwest, and the drive is the trade you make for the park and the price.

Worth Knowing
There Are Two Evergreens.
This catches people out constantly. Evergreen Estates is the older, established section with the larger lots. Evergreen is the newer part to the south. They have different street naming patterns and separate community associations, and they do not trade at the same price.
Two homes can both be honestly advertised as Evergreen and be in genuinely different markets. Check the address, not the headline.
The second thing to be specific about is the park. Backing onto Fish Creek and being a ten minute walk from an access point are two very different propositions, and the difference is priced in. If the park is why you are buying, decide early whether you need to back onto it or only reach it easily, because that single choice moves your budget considerably.
Evergreen is also compared constantly to Bridlewood next door and Sundance across the creek. Similar era, similar money, meaningfully different communities. Worth walking all three before you commit.
