Activities For The Entire Family
Each year, the City of Airdrie puts on a spectacle for Canada Day. With so many events from exciting fireworks to charitable events and fun runs, there’s something for everyone. Explore some great events from the classic Airdrie Canada Day Parade to Airdrie’s Pro Rodeo running the entire weekend. Let’s dive in!
Airdrie’s Canada Day Parade
The City of Airdrie has a Canada Day Parade every year! This year, Main Street will be shut down at 9:00am and will remain closed until half an hour after the parade ends. City Hall will be open for the use of washrooms. Some of the road will remain closed from 9:00am – 5:00pm to accommodate the Canada Day Street Festival following the parade. Note that this year there won’t be any promo material or candy handed out.
Canada Day Street Festival
Main Street in front of City Hall from 11:00am-4:00pm, enjoy an afternoon of fun activities such as:
– Stage Entertainment
– Bouncy Castle, Obstacle Course, Dunk Tank.
– Face Painting
– Balloon Artists
– Food Trucks
– Time Travelers Car Club Display & more!
Alive Family Run/Bike/Walk
Scooter, skate board, run, walk, bike ride, come with your kids or bring a dog, however you want to get active! One lap around East Lake is 2km, and it’s a great starting point for everyone. There are also 5km, 7km, and 10km routes.
Park at Scouts Hall, it all begins at 8:30am sharp! This event is put on by Alive Fitness & Wellness and Quinn’s Legacy Run.
Airdrie Pro Rodeo
The Airdrie Pro Rodeo runs from June 28th – July 2nd! The schedule looks like this:
June 29th-30th
Jr. Rodeo 6:00pm
Pro Rodeo 7:00pm
Including Mini Broncs on June 30
July 1st-2nd
Jr. Rodeo 2:00pm
Pro Rodeo 3:00pm
Including Mini Broncs & Wild Cow Milking
Airdrie Public Library’s 15th Annual Canada Day BBQ
Airdrie’s Public Library continues their annual tradition with their 15th annual Canada Day BBQ. Stop by and enjoy the amazing cuisine of The Butcher Shoppe while supporting Airdrie Public Library! Plus – enter to win a family pass to the Royal Tyrell Museum by purchasing your tickets in advance at Airdrie Public Library. Advanced ticket sales are happening now! The event begins at 11:00am and will wrap up around 1:30pm.
Meal options:
$7 – Pork on a bun, beans, coleslaw, water, and cookie
$6 – Hotdog, beans, coleslaw, water, and cookie
$4 – Kids Meal with hotdog, cookie, and water
Iron Horse Park
Experience an interpretive rail journey on miniature trains and get a feeling of what the railway was like in Western Canada during the pioneer days – perfect for Canada Day! The journey will take you over hills, across trestles and through tunnels across the varied landscape. Between 11:00am and 4:00pm, free admission, cost of a train ride is $3.00 each.
Stephen’s Backpack Society 11th Annual Canada Day BBQ
Stephen’s Backpack Society is hosting their 11th annual Canada Day BBQ at the Real Canadian Superstore from 11:00am-3:00pm. Attend this event for lots of entertainment as well as food while celebrating the local community.
Airdrie Canada Day Fireworks
Airdrie’s Canada Day wouldn’t be the same without fireworks! Fireworks begin at approximately 10:45pm (at dusk). The viewing sight is at Chinook Winds Park South of Yankee Valley Blvd. This is going to be a great show, so bring the entire family and enjoy the night.
